The Director of Business Intelligence will be embedded within the Global Insights & Analytics (GIA) team, with dotted reporting to the Global Audience Insights team. Dedicated to support the Global Insights & Analytics team as well as their business partners around the Studio. This position will lead the creation and oversight of a data analytics group that will be responsible for defining business requirements for cross platform data integration, digital & social analytics, business intelligence, Data Science, knowledge-sharing, dashboarding and reporting. This role will support cross-functional teams to identify and build data solutions to drive business growth and revenue for various studio business partners: including Digital Network Businesses (Ellen & TMZ), TV Programming & Distribution & Licensing, Consumer Products, Global Brands & Experiences, Animation Production & Strategy, Tours, Franchises & IPs and Ad Sales.
This role requires a deep knowledge of BI solutions, data analytics, data modeling & visualization tools, data management and normalization, social media, digital audience analysis and some knowledge of data warehousing. The Director will work closely with the GIA VP and will oversee a manager.
Ability and experience working with Business Leads to understand business needs, define scope and translate requirements into technical specifications (includes identifying and assessing potential data sources)
Deep understanding of data models - write queries and manage data transformation to enable visualization and automated reporting
Develop dashboards and reports to empower operational and strategic decision-making
Build rich and dynamic dashboards using out-of-box features, customizations, and data visualizations using Tableau and other tools
Manage, investigate & liaise with CI on data infrastructure projects, such as the establishment of data warehousing, data automation, etc
Ensure quality and data integrity in BI Products
Analyze, visualize, and provide analytics on data to build reporting solutions to support various company initiatives
Proven track record of using data analyses and visualization to impact business decisions
Knowledge of AWS and Snowflake
Build and maintain SQL scripts and complex queries for data analysis and extraction
Work with GIA members to evaluate business needs and priorities, liaise with key business partners and address internal team needs related to data systems & management.
Liaise closely with the Global Audience Insights team and other AT&T / WarnerMedia & External Big Data divisions and providers, e.g. Xandr, HBO MAX as well as teams in NY, Dallas and Seattle.
Ensure GIA business partners embrace data confidently to address complex challenges
Responsible for GIA-wide training, knowledge-sharing and best practices related to big data projects, services and providers
Work closely with VP and SVP, to create the data team processes, oversee manager
Manage day to day operations and team Manager on assigned projects.
Masters Degree in Math & Statistics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, or Data Science preferred.
Minimum of 7-10 years in data analytics with an emphasis on media and entertainment
Adobe Analytics Certification A Plus
Strong SQL skills
Good understanding of Machine Learning
Expertise with Adobe Analytics/Omniture, Google Analytics, and other Social/App Tracking Tools
Understanding of Data Warehousing Technologies
Strong analytical/data/modelling skills, with the ability to synthesize business requirements and questions, source and analyze data, build conclusions and articulate actionable recommendations
Ability to present to various internal and external executives; build narratives around data.
Excellent understanding of analytical methods and regression models, and advanced analytics software (SAS, R, Python and others)
Experience with relational databases (SQL/PLSQL/Hive) and expertise leveraging large data sets within a data warehouse (Hadoop, Oracle, MySQL).
Experience with NetBase, Crimson Hexagon and/or other social media audience analysis tools.
Professional experience with visualization tools and report development, dashboard creation, pivot tables, and data analytics. Tableau, Looker or similar tools.
Knowledge of Microsoft tools for report creation.
Knowledge of SPSS for data mining
